Banana Bread can be enjoyed for breakfast, dessert or on any occasion.  This Banana Nut Bread recipe contains a special ingredient that makes it moist and delicious.  My family loves this recipe and it’s the only one I use to make banana bread.  It’s easy to make and it is pretty fail safe.  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (not miracle whip)

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour

  • 2 mashed ripe bananas

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cream together sugar and butter.  
  • Next, beat in eggs.
  • Mix in mayonnaise and baking soda, separately first, then add to the rest of the ingredients.
  • Continue adding remaining ingredients and combine. 
  • Grease a loaf pan and pour in the batter.
  • Bake for about 65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

  • The recipe can be made without the mayonnaise however it will not be as soft and moist.
